Employer Partner Case Study: JJ Churchill

JJ Churchill, a family-owned precision engineering business based in Leicestershire, specialises in the aerospace and defence sectors and has more than 80 years’ experience in the production of gas turbine blades from forgings, castings and solid billet.

JJ Churchill became an Employer Partner with MTC Apprenticeships in 2016 and we spoke to Sarah Gregory, Head of HR at JJ Churchill, to find out more about their experience so far: “We have nothing but praise for Matt Bastock and the rest of the team that work so hard to make sure all of our apprentices on programme receive the highest possible standard of experience when in centre.

“Our relationship is excellent. The team work hard to ensure they maintain their commitment and ensure that our apprentices meet both their and our aspirations for them.”

For Sarah and the rest of the team at JJ Churchill, apprentices are an important part of the business and form a significant part of its plans for the future: “We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated group of polite, helpful and talented apprentices who add great value to our organisation on a daily basis. Thanks to their work at the AMTC, they join us with a very strong work ethic as well as new ideas that help to shape our practices as we move forward.”

It is the calibre of apprentice alongside the collaborative approach that means the relationship between the two organisations continues to flourish: “We continue to work with MTC Apprenticeships because we enjoy the partnership that we have developed and our apprentices are very positive about the programme. The team are very professional and understand our requirements as a business and they are always trying to ensure that these are met,” explained Sarah.
