About the Programme

Our Apprenticeship Programme will not only provide you with extensive knowledge and experience in the fundamental principles of engineering, you will also explore several specialist areas to help you shape the direction of your studies for the remaining time on your programme and beyond.

These skills will provide you with the foundation for an exciting and rewarding career in engineering.

As part of your learner journey at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC), you will work on tasks alongside leading technicians, engineers and scientists who are responsible for challenging and advanced research projects to help drive the UK manufacturing industry forward.

You will also be given the opportunity to work on your own personal development projects, to really build your skills and put what you’ve learnt into practice.

What entry qualifications will I need?

We are keen to recruit people who have or are predicted to gain at least 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) including English Language, Maths and Science at Grade C/4 or above.

Do I get paid?

You will be paid by your employer typically between £150 – £300 per week. This will increase annually as you gain more skills and become more useful to your employer.

When will my apprenticeship start?

Apprenticeships start in September each year with recruitment commencing in October the year before, so the earlier you apply the better. Your first year of training (September to August) will take place at the AMTC.

How long will an apprenticeship take?

Apprenticeships are normally 3- 4 years duration for an Advanced level.

Who we’re looking for

The Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC) is no ordinary place of to train. So, we mean it when we say our Programme is no ordinary apprenticeship.

We want passionate, enthusiastic young people who are prepared to be challenged, tested and dedicated to their studies.

Academic backgrounds are important – we require our apprentices to have achieved GCSE grades (or equivalent) of 4s or above in Maths, English and STEM subjects – but we also place a lot of value on our candidates’ attitudes and drive to excel in their engineering careers.

By completing our Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship Programme, not only will you leave with an industry-wide recognised qualification, but you will have gained unrivalled experience and insight into the engineering sector from one of the UK’s leading manufacturing organisations.

Places are limited so if you think you’ve got what we’re looking for then find out how to apply.
