Apprentice CNC Machinist
The apprentice will be trained in CNC programmer/operator detailed training a=in all aspects of machining starting from manual through to 3,4 and 5 axes programming in various materials. All aspects of cutting methodology will be covered from complex work piece holding through to tooling selection and set up to calculating speed and feeds.
- 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday through Thursday, 8.00am to 3.30pm Fridays, totalling 39 hours. Lunch is taken 12.30 to 1.00pm each day.

The role of CNC Programmer/Operator offers detailed training in all aspects of machining starting from manual through 3,4 and 5 axis programming and machining in various materials.
All aspects of cutting methodology will be covered from complex work piece holding through to tooling selection and set up to calculating speed and feeds.
We use a variety of machine tool software backed up by a powerful offline programming (cam) package, training will cover all aspects of this.
Requirements and prospects
Computer literate, confident to work within a team.
Positive, attentive, reliable and courteous.
GCSE’s in computing, maths and English level 4 (Grade C) or above or equivalent qualifications.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship of a fully time served skilled machinist, progression opportunities are dependent on each individual, but we recognise talent and would look to develop a career to support them and to meet the needs of the business.
Things to consider
Location being at Tamworth.
As skills progress there are opportunities for overtime, earliest start time 07:00 and the latest finish time around 17:30 there may be an option to work on a Saturday if required by the business.

It also houses our own Apprenticeship training centre and 3D printers. 3D printed prototypes can also made in different materials including carbon fibre, polyurethane, thermoplastics, acrylics and polymers.
Brown and Holmes also has a range of internationally renowned products that offer complementary technology to our work holding, handling and automation solutions. These include Atling self-centering steady rests, Techman robots, Tsudakoma rotary index tables, Swisschucks precision power chucks, Mytec expanding clamp tools and Fresmak ARNOLD high pressure vices.
We supply our solutions and products to many different sectors including companies from automotive, aerospace, power generation, nuclear, defence construction, medical, pharmaceutical and machine tool industries.
