Our programmes are aimed at those who recently joined a manufacturing based business, who would benefit from hands-on experience of the manufacturing and assembly processes and challenges within.

If you would like further information or want to discuss how we can tailor this to your business needs, please contact: training@the-mtc.org or call 02476 701774.

What does it focus on?

The graduate development programme is delivered as a design and manufacturing project over-arching a number of curated short courses.

The project tasks the graduates with improving the design of an existing product, manufacturing a working prototype and providing a supporting business model for mass volume, all within a tight timeframe.

They receive a tailored amount of training modules, within the duration, to both support the requirements of this project and the needs of your business.

The programme concludes with the teams presenting their working prototype, manufacturing plan and business case, along with a summary lessons learned and how this will be applied back in the business.

“Meggitt’s graduates are from a mixed educational and experience base (Civil, Electronics, Materials, Aero & Mechanical Engineering). The ‘MTC Design-Make Programme’ provides them a terrific experience with real life simulation of a product life cycle containing; requirements capture, design optimisation, business case & operational planning and draughting; followed by workshop experience in the MTC apprentice training facility where they learn milling & turning, and the week culminates with a ‘max speed run-off’ and presentation in the lecture theatre. The graduates learn workshop skills, re-enforced with teamwork, business operational planning and costing skills and return back into their plants with a more rounded design-make ethos.”
