Introduction to PLC Programming

This three-day course has been designed to give those with little or no experience of PLC systems, a deep dive into one of the key components of many automated systems. The course starts with basic principles and builds up to a final project where you will design, build, and program an industrial conveyor control system. This practical course gives learners the confidence they need in the workplace when working with PLC systems.

Know the relevant standards which govern PLC installations
Be able to read and understand ladder logic
Understand how components can be linked via networks through an address system
Know how to set up a new project when creating a new program
Be able to download and back up current PLC programs
Be able to troubleshoot a system using the PLC program
Understand how to modify an existing program and the dangers involved
Have an appreciation of the history and development of PLC devices
Understand the importance of data types when programming
Have experience of setting up, timers, counters, and comparators
Know how to move data for use throughout the program
Understand how to create and navigate function blocks
Have experience of step programming
Be able to set up a basic HMI panel
Have applied their knowledge to an industrial conveyor system
